Hi, I have been on the list for awhile but haven't had much time to work on my genealogy. My Irish family immigrated about 1846 from Ireland. The family were James and Jane Tisdale (parents) and children, George, James, Ann and possibly Joseph or Charles. They went to Ontario, Canada. The grave stone of Ann Tisdale Milner says that she was from Cavan, Ireland. I read about the Griffith's list...I am not sure what this is and I am wondering if someone would be kind enough to see if the Tisdale family are on this list and/or if anyone has any suggestions on how I would find out about this family in Ireland and how they got to Ireland. I have run into a lot of brick walls! Thank you in advance. good morning from australia I wonder if one of the listers could tell me where I might find information on Edward Carey, an insurance agent who had a son Robert John Carey[born 1899] Information on Ireland is not easy to find on the web and living in a small village in the fringe of the southern highlands does not help the matter thanking you veronica ellis nee carey
It's bad enough to keep making mistakes, without sharing it with the WHOLE LIST! I'm going to bed right after this post. HUTSON.....got it now. Not so many of them. They're in Atrea, Magherafelt, and one Hutsen in Aughadowey. Sorry for the mixup. Joan.
Bob, Sorry, must be tired...just realized I looked up Hutton instead of Huston. There are a pile of them...too many to list every parish, but they share almost every parish with Hunters. If you want, email me the first names you know, and I'll see if they're listed. Joan.
Bob, I checked the 1831 census for Co. Londonderry and found 3 out of 4 families. I've listed the ones who share common parishes. There were no Trolls listed in this census. The 1841 Co. Cavan census didn't have any except one parish with Hunters.. Lusk - Ballynascreen Errigal Hunter - Ballynascreen Errigal Banagher Templemore Dungiven Hutton - Banagher Templemore Dungiven Hope this helps. For Catherine, I had a look on my Griffiths Valuation of Ireland CD for your names. There were too many Gibsons (living in too many counties) to list. I did find some in Armagh. I then looked for the name McNeilly. Here's what I found: McNeilly Donegal - 2 names Down - 30 Fermanagh - 1 Antrim - 28 Monaghan - 1 Tyrone - 2 McNeily Antrim - 2 names Londonderry/Derry - 1 Mayo - 1 McNeally Donegal - 1 name Antrim - 1 McNealy Donegal - 3 names Fermanagh - 1 Down - 3 Mayo - 1 Antrim - 2 I didn't find any McNeillys, using any spelling I could think of, living in Armagh. Does anyone know of a place in Ireland where the four families, TROLL; LUSK; HUTSON; and HUNTER appeared together in Ireland circa 1850? A Hutson-Hunter couple in Scotland show Ireland as place of birth (for both) on 1881 census. Their 1861 marriage record (also in Scotland) shows Troll & Lusk as maiden names of mothers. I am trying to get an idea as to where in Ireland they came from and thought that, since three of the names are uncommon ones, anywhere that had all four families in close proximity would be worth further investigation. Thank you, Bob
For two years I have been trying to find information on these two surnames and where they were common in N. Ireland. I would appreciate any help. There is a possibility that they were from Aarmagh. Thank you. Catherine Gibsom Havemeier

List, Found name of ancestor Hugh McAloon who owned 46 acres of land in the late 1870's. Address given was Fyaght. Does anyone know where Fyaght is? Does it still exist? I would guess that it would be in County Fermanaugh or County Tyrone. Thanks, Bob Rice from Lancaster Co., PENNA., USA
I am trying to identify the descendants of the Andrew Wood who received land under the Ulster Plantation scheme in 1609. Andrew emigrated from Aryshire, Scotland. His date of application was 20 July 1609. His surety was a John Wood of Geilston, Scotland. Andrew, with presumably his siblings or children (John, William and James) appears on the The Muster Roll of the County of Donegal, circa 1630, in the Barony de Rapho, then administered by Ludovic Stuart, of the famous family of Stewart, who was then the Lord Duke of Lennox. The following is a transcript of the muster list, that appears to have categorized individuals in groups indicating their proficiency with a particular weapon. Note that I have made no attempt to correct spelling, capitalization or other grammatical errors. ========================== The Muster Roll of the County of Donnagall 1630 A.D. I ran across the following entry in a Burke's Peerage listing, and was wondering if anyone knows what the letters "W.R.C." might mean. Also, any idea as to where "Knockmellie" might have been?
