    3. Also staff measuring sugar into blue paper bags - 1lb, 2lb with unerring accuracy. Real flour bags, empties washed and used as dusters (and for draining home-made cheese). Well-off customers shopped by telephone (not abbreviated to 'phone or phone as now) for home delivery. I used to deliver meat on Saturday mornings, using the type of cycle now only seen in places like the Black Country museum! PJ Proby wasn't even a twinkle in anyone's eye then.
