    3. http://www.borderlinebooks.com/uk6070s/k6.html#Paul%20Kossoff Kossoff was born in Hampstead on 14 September 1950. He was the son of actor David Kossoff. His first band was Black Cat Bones but then having added Paul Rodgers and Andy Fraser to their line-up they were spotted by Alexis Korner playing at the Nag's Head, Battersea. He gave them the name Free, got them a recording contract with Island and 'coached' them in their early days. When Free first split in May 1971 the guitarist formed Kossoff, Kirke, Tetsu and Rabbit, although this proved to be a short-term studio group because Free reformed at the start of 1972. After Free split for the final time in July 1973, Kossoff recorded the above solo album. By now, though, his drug addiction was having an adverse effect on his health and he spent the next couple of years trying to cure his addiction before assembling a new band Back Street Crawler (named after his debut solo album), in April 1975. Sadly, though, his health was irreparably damaged. After suffering a serious heart attack in 1975, he was hospitalised for six weeks and his subsequent appearances were confined to just three further gigs that year. Then, having got the all-clear from his doctor the following year, he died in his sleep on 19 March 1976 on board a plane to New York. A tragic loss of a considerable talent. ttfn Me --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
