Maybe children are more open to things like this because they haven't learned the cynicism that comes with growing up. First it's the loss of belief in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny (here in the States anyway), the next thing you know, you find it difficult to believe in anything you can't touch or see for yourself. I wouldn't mind growing back a little of that childlike belief in things myself.
