    3. Brings back memories of when I was sixteen and got a job for the local small village CO-OP, did you know they were very choosy in them days and the man would come all the way from Newcastle to interviews the prospective shop assistants. They were also renowned for the best staff training, the store had a travelling shop which went out everyday to the outlying villages. Customers were allowed to tick on and we actually stood behind a counter and served folk in 1971 :-) TTFN Marion remembering :-((

    3. What a good lad you was going fer messages :-) try and get a kid to go messages today having said that they probably wouldn't be safe to go :-( I remember working out folks divi and as I was doing so I came across a one of a neighbour who had quite a bit of unclaimed, she was delighted when I told her but I got wrong off the boss. He was a typical company man and would have preferred the company kept the loot :-) I remember him working all hours and he was well into his sixties before he retired, he lived with his mother who dressed like a duchess yet he used to wear an old threadbare suit. Happy Days, TTFN Marion <<Arh can still remember my mums Co-Op No from ganning up the Cannon ( Low Fell.) te dee mi anties messages in 53. 3. Hi Marion, I only vaguely recall this but I think when the Divi stopped mum got a pay out on top of her Divi, like a share equivalent from the Nottingham Cooperative Society and possibly included was the CWS the Cooperative Wholesale Society. Do you know if they sold the milk and bread please and possible the meat. Could even buy "Candlesticks" at the main one along from the Theatre Royal!:-)) I recall getting my School clobber there. The whole shebang. Regards, MIkey. ----- Original Message ----- From: Marion <mm@mmaychell.freeserve.co.uk> To: <NORTHERN-ENGLAND-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 25, 2000 10:47 AM Subject: Re: [NTH-ENG] Re:CO-OP > What a good lad you was going fer messages :-) try and get a kid to go > messages today having said that they probably wouldn't be safe to go > :-( > > I remember working out folks divi and as I was doing so I came across > a one of a neighbour who had quite a bit of unclaimed, she was > delighted when I told her but I got wrong off the boss. > He was a typical company man and would have preferred the company kept > the loot :-) > I remember him working all hours and he was well into his sixties > before he retired, he lived with his mother who dressed like a duchess > yet he used to wear an old threadbare suit. > > Happy Days, > > TTFN > Marion > > <<Arh can still remember my mums Co-Op No from > ganning up the Cannon ( Low Fell.) te dee mi anties messages in 53. > Yer see she sentus there fer mi ols an mi Antie didna ave a No!!
