I remember that in the winter of 1962 /3 it started snowing just after Christmas and carried on until March. The weatherman kept forecasting a thaw but it didn't come. I believe the records show three months of snow....unheard of. there was also another year, early 80s, when we had heavy snow on the 21st Dec (I remember because it was my birthday and we were having a party....still had it too but a few people couldn't make it) and that lasted a few weeks. The following year we moved into an old house and that Christmas, because I only had a small fridge, I put the turkey on a shelf in the pantry which had an air brick top and bottom instead of a window. It started snowing Christmas night and then froze hard. We were out on Boxing Day and when I took the turkey out the following day it was frozen on one side as I had put it near the bottom airbrick!!
