Dear Friends, A litle riddle was once posed to me by a lovely old man, a Shepherd by the name of Ken. I worked very happily with him on the same 2000 acre Kent farm for several years. He spent his entire life in the country and there was no food he had not at one time drunk or eaten. He lived a rich simple life; my current Sheepdog Hey is a descendant of one that was a gift to me from him out of a lovely pair of his. Between us one weekend we travelled a total of 754 miles to aquire them. He asked me the riddle one late summers harvest day as we were tippling Ken Cramps notorious double fermented 13% Kent Cider called "Double Vision". He was full of little sayings. One was: Beer on Cider makes a good rider, Cider on beer makes you feel queer. How very true!:-)) I never saw him without a smile. I have tried to recall & reconstucted the Riddle as this. One day walking in the fields On my strolls I discovered Something very good to eat. . Neither Furred nor Feathered Tis not scaled nor leathered Nor was it either Fish or Meat Was niether vegetable nor Fruit Not a Herb, Seed, Nut nor Fungi, What was it I took home to eat? Regards, Mikey. Spectemur Agendo.
