Must be a connection with New Years and Chicken Pox. My older daughter came out with them New Years Eve, 1980. Her younger sister got them two weeks later. We spent a month unable to go anywhere. Lots of Benadryl used to get rid of the itch too. Nothing like starting off with a bang! My sympathies.
