Hi Everyone, Just wondering if rootsweb is down already as it's so quiet, think it's supposed to be off from 4pm British time so that's anytime now :-) TTFN Marion

Perhaps the answer would be for me to set up an aol Group. I can invite non-aol members to join and it gives you a chat room and notice board, also a place to put photos and sites and you can send group emails. It would do for our stories etc. Maggie

On A Plane On a plane bound for New York a flight attendant approached a blonde sitting in the first class section and requested that she move to coach since she did not have a first class ticket. The blonde replied, "I'm blonde; I'm beautiful; I'm going to New York; and I'm not moving." Not wanting to argue with a customer, the flight attendant asked the co-pilot to speak with her. He went to talk with the woman, asking her to please move out of the first class section. Again, the blonde replied, "I'm blonde; I'm beautiful; I'm going to New York, and I'm not moving." The co-pilot returned to the cockpit and asked the captain what he should do. The captain said, "I'm married to a blonde, and I know how to handle this." He went to the first class section and whispered in the blonde's ear. She immediately jumped up and ran to the coach section mumbling to herself, "Why didn't someone just say so?" Surprised, the flight attendant and the co-pilot asked what he said to her that finally convinced her to move from her seat. He said, "I told her the first class section wasn't going to New York." Regards, Mikey. Spectemur Agendo.

Thanks, Mikey, for posting the information on the Hummingbird; an interesting read. They are amazing little birds and a wonder to watch. My father had one that would always come to his birdfeeder, thus giving him some joy and comfort in his last years. Unusual to see Hum- mingbirds in Wyoming since the altitude is so high and of course the wind blows much of the time; not really an area that is con- ducive to these winged beauties. There is a beautiful desert area with a spacious enclosure at the zoo that has a variety of Hummingbirds within it as well as other interesting creatures whose habitat is similar in structure and humidity. I have enjoyed the peacefulness of the exhibit several times since the opening a few years back. Thanks for including the sites. Dear All, I put the first line in incorrectly, it was an alternative consideration of mine for another line. It works in a way but is too complicated and should have read, "I am the sweet source." CHURCH BULLETIN BLOOPERS Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on October 24 in the church. So ends a friendship that began in their school days. Please place your donation in the envelope along with the deceased person(s) you want remembered. The third verse of "Blessed Assurance" will be sung without musical accomplishment. Attend our banquet and you will hear an excellent speaker and heave a healthy lunch. The church will host an evening of fine dining, superb entertainment, and gracious hostility. The pastor will preach his farewell message, after which the choir will sing, "Break Forth Into Joy." 22 members were present at the church meeting held at the home of Mrs. Marsha Crutchfield last evening. Mrs. Crutchfield and Mrs. Rankin sang a duet, The Lord Knows Why.
A smile for my friends. Regards, Glenda The blonde had been married about a year when one day the she came running up to her husband jumping for joy. Not knowing how to react, the husband started jumping up and down along with her. "Why are we so happy?" he asked. She said, "Honey, I have some really great news for you!" "Great" he said, "tell me what you're so happy about." She stopped breathless from all the jumping up and down. "I'm pregnant!" she gasped. The husband was ecstatic as they had been trying for a while. He grabbed her, kissed her, and started telling her how wonderful it was, and that he couldn't be happier. Then she said, "Oh, honey there's more." "What do you mean more?", he asked. "Well we are not having just one baby, we are going to have TWINS!" Amazed at how she could know so soon after getting pregnant, he asked her how she knew. "It was easy," she said, "I went to the pharmacy and bought the 2 pack home pregnancy test kit and both tests came out positive!"

The only bird that can fly backwards is the Hummingbird, which can also fly up, down, and sideways, as well as hovering in one place. These tiny, fast fliers have wing muscles that make up about one third of their entire mass. Hummingbirds have evolved a flying style that resembles that of bumblebees and hawk moths. Like the insects, the motion of their wings resembles the movement of a helicopter's rotors, but instead of rotating around they trace a flattened, sideways figure-8. The wings' internal joints are fused together and the only bending happens at the bird's shoulders. To fly backwards, sideways, or forward a hummingbird slightly changes the angle at which the wings are held. When hovering in place the bird makes extremely tiny adjustments to compensate for changing breezes. They can also fly straight up or enter a power dive at up to 50 miles per hour (80 kph).
