Hi Angela, Curry today ! You could put a second drive in your computer , assuming you've only got one drive fitted. The cables normally have a connector for a second drive, and there's normally a spare power connector too. If there's only one cable with hard disk and CD rom attached, you can still do it , providing you have a second IDE controller on the motherboard ( usual on newish machines ). Worth a thought. Hi Everyone, Here I am on line again trying to catch up after my monitor gave up the ghost, I have a new one now so hopefully all will be well. I dont get to participate as much as I like but please know I am always here working in the background trying to keep the list running smoothly <g> Mike Admin Northern-England-L@rootsweb.com http://www.genealogy45.fsnet.co.uk/ check out Dave's bits & bobs here, http://212.19.69.91/north/
I know, mine is behaving funny too. I gather from other lists that this is a general problem and not confined to Northern. When I am on free I use the web mail as I can see when it is delivered - that is if it is before I log off! Sometimes it is almost instant. One thing I have noticed is that sometimes the 'Reply to' comes up as the person who sent it and not as the list so that accounts for some of my 'lost' mail. I sometimes forget to check the 'To' line :( What I get is mail slotting into my Yahoo while I am reading it online and not being in date, time, order. That means I can read one I have just sent and then find I have another ten to open that came in before my one. If you have either Messenger, both Yahoo and Hotmail announce incoming mail. I can also download Yahoo and Hotmail into Outlook Express and reply from that too, but my virus scanner cannot scan Hotmail, only Yahoo - hence the change to Yahoo. I just followed your advice, Gary and checked out the Lancashire County Lunatic Asylum. Although I didn't find any ancestors ;-)) I was struck by the fact that, although many were described as "lunatic, idiot or imbecile" there were also a great number described simply as "blind". This would appear to have been enough to have one committed. My grandmother became quite senile in the 1950's and was pushed off to a Manchester Asylum. Even in the 1950's. Makes you think. Anyway, thanks for that tip.
