Angela - this is a very common occurrence with Outlook Express. I have this problem all the time, but I do just re-boot. Then I get a message from Windows telling me because I didn't close down properly (I have usually had no alternative but to pull the plug out because everything is frozen solid) I now have to have this scan run. I mutter dark imprecations about "well you wouldn't let me - I would have loved to have closed down properly" etc. Sometimes it does let me return to windows without re-booting, depends what sort of a mood it is in. I used to blame BT, but perhaps it's just OE. I don't think reinstalling OE would make any difference. My mum's favourites were P.J.Proby with his velvet ribbon in his ponytail. That seems to be the fashion so he was well ahead of his time. As a kid I thought he was gorgeous, and I have never heard anyone sing that song from West side story as well as him "Some where's a place for us - take my hand I'll take you there, somehow, some day, somewhere " Just love it, gives me goose pimples all over. Another singer always belting out in our house was Gene Pitney, as well as Englebert Humperdink, and my dad's Merl Haggard. Best wishes Angela Cyprus
OK So I've been into advanced settings and all three boxes are checked now. So when I send this, I suspect that it will not be certified, because one of the above 3 boxes says "attachments only". We'll see! Yes - there you are you see - no certificate. So it looks as though I will have to specially check the box if I want to certify an attachment? Phew, you lot haven't arf been talking a lot last night. I'm forgetting what I need to reply to :) I've had to go to the office 2 mornings running and I get behind with my e-mails. First one I read though is the Northern which is my favourite. We watched the match last night with greek commentary. When Liverpool scored the first goal, I felt so sorry for them as you couldn't hear the applause they deserved with too many Olympiakos fans at the stadium. I got really mad when the commentator didn't show one bit of excitement, so off I went to the kitchen put BBC radio 5 live on and listened to some professional commentators, who showed the same excitement for whoever scored the goal. The Greeks are big headed and totally biased. Can't wait for them to play us at Anfield, we'll see what happens then ! Mind you, I bet we won't get it live then. Now, Mikey, I put my crisps in-between the 2 pieces of buttered bread, and our crisps in Cyprus are not the same taste as the English crisps, but they have improved over the years. I always ask visitors to bring me some cheese n onion crisps over, which last all of 30 seconds in this house. More to follow when I've finished reading. Best wishes Angela Cyprus
Agree about the song, Angela, but not PJ; have you never heard one of the three Tenors sing it - I think Placido Domingo? I never liked Brawn since as a child someone told me it was made from cow and sheep brains. Last week on Oldham Market I saw Pressed Beef. I havent seen it for years and bought a pound ( no daft Kilos on Oldham market) The taste is exquisite if a little salty and not to be confused with potted beef. Hi Angela, Prawn Curry with rice - 99p - where's the prawns ........ oh I found one ! If you run control panel from the start bar :- Select "Add/Remove Programs" Then Look for Outlook Express XX ....... Bear in mind some files are common to Internet Explorer too. What version is your OE ? It might be better to upgrade to 5.5 via Microsoft , but it is a big download :- http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/download/default.htm The above is the update page - the download page is on the same site. Download of 5.5 is between 6 and 17Mb - just time for a barbie ! To re-install OE you'll need to have the disks or CD with it on - should be on the WIN 98 CD. I keep my Win 98 and IE/OE updated - seems the only way to avoid the troubles you're having. Unchecking "with attachments" removes the message. I looked in the help file , which , unfortunately doesn't mention advanced settings at all ! Would be more logical if the message said "only the attachment has been scanned ?" if that is what the program is doing. I think this is worth a query to Grisoft - I'll see if I get a response !
