    2. Hi, Jim, I still am not sure if you are talking of the song "Let it snow", but I am thinking it may have been either Bing Crosby or Frank Sinatra that sang it. Can anyone tell me for sure? It's driving me crazy, because I know I should know who sang it! It might have been written by Sammy Cahn & Jule Styne, but am not sure. 3. Hi all, Wasn't it Sid Lawrence who used to play all the Glen Miller tunes with his orchestra ? 3. Aint that the truth and aint it harder Maggie. I did my next months shopping at 1.45 am this morning whilst I let my PC cool down and what a pleasure only one other person in the place. All my shopping was removed from my trolley then processed for payment and packed by staff. I had hoped to pick up some bottles too and especially some ADNAMS to go with a pork pie but of course living in the UK alcohol sales cease between 11pm and 8am.....in stores. Odd that as so many pubs and clubs have other hours. Not too mention that travellers arriving or leaving in Fishguard can buy alcohol in the early hours for a limited period of course!! :-)) Restrictions, licences, Leunigs idiocy, he expresses freedom!:-)) Hey ( mi hound) had a trot round the car park and had the Supermarket auto doors flying open and closed, the first time he gave a quick look up as much as to say how did Dad manage that I wonder? Arh well lets try the next one........lol. It were a great decision. Staff had time to talk. 3. Hello again Brian I've found a PC shop near the junction of Middleton Rd and Victoria Avenue East. Which isn't a million miles from you if I'm correct. He seems to have a £55 fixation because I bought a very good Compaq 151FS monitor at that price and he quoted the same for a scanner which I'm not convinced I really need. So I would presume that his price for a printer would similarly be £55. 3. Hi Glenda, You're not becoming a "foodaholic" by any chance ? As Marged said in an earlier message , the "real" English mustard ( Probably Colemans Marged ? ) is made from powder , the yellow mustard powder. This can blow your head off ......... hot ! Pre-made it tends to be weaker and more vinegar (?) . Apart from that, there's the usual range of pre-made mustards including French Dijon , coarse grain , chili flavour ....... which I do buy from time to time. I will say that proper English mustard is nothing like the weak , vinegary mustards you put on hot dogs etc. If you put the same quantity of English on a hot dog , you'd better be near a fire hydrant ! I feel sorry for you eating all that "junk" food. I have never had a Big Mac , and I'm not starting now. I'd rather have a pub lunch , some of which are excellent with a great range to choose from. One local (ish) Pub used to do a range of Mexican dishes, superb but cost a lot in lager .... . I will admit to having the odd Chinese or Indian meal in the freezer for Fridays. Regards Dave. 1. Re: [NTH-ENG] Spike Milligan and Cats.
    2. Mikey.
    3. MARGED, Well last time e was in Court in Islington nextdoors cat had killed his Robins and other garden birds etc............. so he shot it. That is not cruel that to me is quite reasonable. Would you like a garden full of corpses and not to mention the problems of weeding! A stray tom once came into my house in Kent and killed half of a litter of kittens in my cupboard. It got a very hot painfull suggestion not to bother me up its backside. But no it took no notice and came back for the others so I caught it and had it humanely put down. Pounds of muscle, spitting, flea infested trouble. Cats that kill for pleasure must expect to be dealt with. Instictive but caused by people. The reason and problem has been caused by us folk. Cats in the desert kill snakes and are great to have around, not many snakes in Islington, well not of the kind I mean....... Always had two Grey Burmese brothers around me in 80, great companions too and would trot after me some of the time. They didnt kill any birds, they had better quarry although fed by their owner. I'd occasionally have a wild bird come in and sit on my shoulder not at all worried about the cat............. nor did either of the cats attempt to disturb it, simple. Recall the position they were placed in by the Egyptians. Revered lass revered and for good reason. One mustnt forget the British wild cat was once quite common but they were in the majority of areas killed off by us indiginous folk. Not to mention other British animals like Wolves and Beavers etc................... Then the indiginous cat was replaced with imported fancy breeds etc and they all came from abroad as pets. The very word Pet as opposed to house animal clearly defines it dont you think? What would you do if you had rats............ another of Gods creatures? Slugs etc........ All a question of perspective Marged. If some thing doesnt bother me then I wont bother it. I have lost all my reintroduced wild rabbits to next door neighbours cat. The fox only took what it needed!! I havnt shot it yet, but by god I have thought about it. Too late now as the Rabbits have gone and so has the fox, well he is not around so often. The cat took his share and the portions the other wild animals lived on that frequented here. ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE? So as to Spike; I find him not guilty of cruelty. Chow time. Mikey. ----- Original Message ----- From: Marged <marged@btinternet.com> To: <NORTHERN-ENGLAND-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 25, 2000 11:11 AM Subject: Re: [NTH-ENG] Re: Prawn curry > I DON'T BELIEVE IT! are you telling me that SPIKE MILLIGAN is CRUEL to one of > GOD'S CREATURES? > > Marged > | > | Phone Spike Milligan he loves em! > | Well that is loves to deal with them that dig up his flowers and destroy his > | tweeters.
