I would imagine that it is the same place Angela. Although I omitted the capital L in my message. I don't know about the vodka but we used to frequent Polish clubs where the drink is slivovitch, a plum brandy I believe and we were told very early by the steward not to buy by the glass as in British clubs but by the bottle. So you'd see two bottles on every table. I never had any ill effects after imbibing slivovitch.Jim Sharpe ----- Original Message ----- From: Kostas & Angela Nicolaou <titina23@spidernet.com.cy> To: <NORTHERN-ENGLAND-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 25, 2000 4:40 PM Subject: [NTH-ENG] Re: LVOV > I wonder if it's the same Lvov in what is now Ukraine Jim, > We have some friends there, and Kostas went there to visit a few years > back. > He had vodka for breakfast, lunch and tea, and he's not much of a > drinker. > He said he never got drunk though or suffered hang-overs there. > A doctor friend there is paid 20 dollars a month only. > A lot of them come over here to work for 1-2 years, and go back like > rich men. > That's how we met them, employing teachers, professors in metallurgy to > name just 2 professions, to work on building our house. > > Best wishes > Angela > Cyprus > > > ==== NORTHERN-ENGLAND Mailing List ==== > Browse the archives, > http://archiver.rootsweb.com/NORTHERN-ENGLAND-L/ > Search the list archives, > http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=NORTHERN-ENGLAND > > --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Hi Marged, I could tell you all about it but, it's a very contentious issue and draws violent religious argument from even the quietest persons.
