    3. Hi all, found this on the web, Hope you like it. Heaven Once upon a time in the Kingdom of Heaven, God went missing for six days. Eventually, the Archangel Gabriel found him, resting on the seventh day. He inquired of God, "Where have you been?" God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look Gabriel, look what I've made." Archangel Gabriel looked puzzled and said, "What is it?" "It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put Life on it. I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a great place of balance." "Balance?" inquired Gabriel, still confused. God explained, pointing to different parts of Earth, "For example, North America will be a place of great opportunity and wealth while South America is going to be poor. Over there I've placed a continent of white people and over there is a continent of black people.," God continued, pointing to different countries. "This one will be extremely hot and arid while this one will be very cold and covered in ice." The Archangel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to a small populated area in the land of Great Britain and said "What's that?" "Ah," said God. "That's Merseyside, the most glorious place on Earth. There's a beautiful river, glorious parks, and buildings, great music and world dominating football teams. The people from Liverpool are going to be modest, intelligent and humorous and they're going to be found traveling the worldas expatriats. They'll be extremely sociable, hard-working and high-achieving, and they will be known throughout the world as diplomats and carriers of peace." Gabriel gasped in wonder and admiration but then proclaimed, "What about balance, God? You said there will be balance!" God replied wisely, "Wait until you see the lazy, arrogant, b'stards I'm putting next to them in Manchester." Tongue in cheek folks especilly jim Danny

    3. Marge, I dont know who you are answering to here, but after reading freddie O Connors book , I am glad that, all over this country, people are more comfortable than our ancesters were. The poverty and deprivation take some imagination to behold. There was an arcticle in last saturdays guardian about a very middle class biographer who was writing about AJPTaylor the historian, this guy had thought that his family had always been from the comfortable middle classes down south, One day a few years ago a parcel containing old photos and letters was delivered from australia and there was a letter dated 1896 from a 13 year old girl in liverpool, her mother had just died in childbirth and she was left to look after herself and four brothers, her father was never around and was drunk most of the time, he had sold everything he could so the children had no shoes , no bed to sleep in and nothing to eat, they would have been dead in amatter of weeks except for this letter to her uncle in Altrincham cheshire ,he came ,took the children and brought them up as his own and but for this act of kindness this biographer would never have been born because one of the children was his grandfather. Shook him up a bit to realise that life is so tenuous and fragile, he came to liverpool and went to where his grandfather and great aunt (who wrote the letter) lived but by then every where was demolished, he gave thanks all the same to that very brave little 13 year old girl who made life possible to him. I can imagine tales like this happening all over , and worse. Think I will take up writing after this :-) Danny ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marged" <marged@btinternet.com> To: <NORTHERN-ENGLAND-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 25, 2000 5:33 PM Subject: [NTH-ENG] MY LIFE > Yes, my life is comfortable, and if it's blinkered, well - I wouldn't know would > I? 3. Hi Becky I know the song you mean, but can only recall the last line. Have just looked on a CD page, but it's not there for Bing Crosby, even on a Christmas CD.
