Hi Glenda our fish and chip shops in the old days were always called supper bars. When you'd been to the theatre or cinema (pictures) you went and bought your supper there either in or out. Eventually, the Archangel Gabriel found him, resting on the seventh day. He inquired of God, "Where have you been?" God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look Gabriel, look what I've made." Archangel Gabriel looked puzzled and said, "What is it?" "It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put Life on it. I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a great place of balance." "Balance?" inquired Gabriel, still confused. God explained, pointing to different parts of Earth, "For example, North America will be a place of great opportunity and wealth while South America is going to be poor. Over there I've placed a continent of white people and over there is a continent of black people.," God continued, pointing to different countries. "This one will be extremely hot and arid while this one will be very cold and covered in ice." "That's Merseyside, the most glorious place on Earth. There's a beautiful river, glorious parks, and buildings, great music and world dominating football teams. The people from Liverpool are going to be modest, intelligent and humorous and they're going to be found traveling the worldas expatriats. They'll be extremely sociable, hard-working and high-achieving, and they will be known throughout the world as diplomats and carriers of peace." Dear Maggie & Jim, Well spotted Jim we were spelling as pronounced. But also fraid not Jim.......:-)) As the name is Home not as you spell it either, but pronounced Hume. Gorsh what a name eh. I got it wrong too thinking it spelt Hume So should be Sir Alexander Frederick Douglas Home This could become confusing ( or interesting) as the "Earldom of ,( Douglas Home) & etc., Peerage was disclaimed in 1963 "for life" to become PM. However was later cr Baron Home of The Hirsel, of Coldstream, co Berwick Life Baron) 1974. He therefore having disclaimed his hereditary title & was disclaimed for life was only Sir because of his Knighthood in 1962. So having done so he was no longer an Earl and could not recover it but became a Baron......... Howevr the main difference is Wedgie Benny gave his up, Anthony (Neil) Wedgwood Benn, 2nd Viscount Stansgate, because of belief ie disclaimed it for life having unsuccessfully attempted to renounce his right of succession 1955 & 1960 whereas Alex baby had to give it disclaim it for life to sit in the Commons as an MP and then as PM. In fact having been elected at some point he triewd to take his seat and was disbarred, He wanted you could say his cake and eat it, but finally succombed. Phew. lol. Dry and thirsty after that mouthful. The only time I enjoyed one of his performances was in "Words & Music" the story of Rodgers and Hart when he sang Mountain Greenery. Dorothy of course loved him. Dave, Yes, I was talking about Rawhide with Clint Eastwood. My Mom always liked him in that show--short-lived though it was. She later became less enamored of him when he did the Dirty Harry shows. By the way, Ward Bond in wagon train as the wagon master I can recall, but what was the name of the guy who drove the chuck wagon. I am talking of his acting name. I believe he played Wishbone. Robert Fuller played the scout, I think. The characters for Gunsmoke you were referring to were played by James Arness & Dennis Weaver. James Arness had an acting brother on a show called "Mission Impossible." I believe his name was Peter Graves. But, what was the name of the character he played? Anyone know?
