Just for interest from another friend. Subject: Re: AVG | > | | | Yes I have the free version. Hi Marged It's in the control center ( tray icon ) "Resident Shield" tab To see the help file you have to "Launch AVG" - then select Help/Help use the index button and type in heuristics ........ Sorry, I sent my mail about update before I received the one from the list. I am still confused by the S.W. virus not appearing on the AVG list although they do say that not all are listed. No, I haven't had it - yet. > I always just delete it twice and get rid of it, but if I can stop myself > panicking next time, I will try and scan it! I wouldn't do that for safety. What is the "December 25th" virus? Anyone know. Is it just a matter of re-dating ones PC so it never shows the 25th? Thanks for checking, Dave. Brian B Droylsden, UK. Hi all, Just to let you know I am alive and kicking but haven't been online since 20th. It was my birthday on 21st, daughter arrived home from Egypt so we went out for a meal. Yesterday shopped till we dropped and took Thomas (my grandson and her nephew) to Pokemon movie and Pizza on way home....plus panic trip to Sainsbury's. Today family here for a meal this evening and just logged on to check a few mailies before I get caught ...... official version "got to do my banking"......lol Have a good Christmas, Maggie xxxxxxxxxx
Brian, I think Snow White is part of some other Trojan virus, so it is probably listed as something else. I have just had a look at the AVG list and didn't see Snow White. Have you ever received this virus? It comes in addressed to you, with the Sender as Hahahahahah, and the subject line as Snow White. In the message body it starts off something like "It was Snow Whites 18th birthday, the dwarfs all came in ...etc.," I always just delete it twice and get rid of it, but if I can stop myself panicking next time, I will try and scan it! I have just downloaded the latest update to AVG. Size 2743.4 bytes took me about 15 minutes. Maybe this is the S.W. one? I checked the database but I see no reference to Snow White in the database. Does my mail have the new version listed? Brian B Droylsden, UK. Thanks for the tip Dave - I have just updated mine to 225. I can't help thinking there must be some box I haven't got ticked, as it comes up every night on the stroke of 7pm and says it updates, but I never have new number unless I do it manually. I suspect it's only checking for viruses. Next time Snow White comes up I'm going to try not to panic, but to run a scan while it's still on board and see what AVG says about it. What a sleepy crowd indeed, I'm up and running like a train. Not on time, all behind and prone to mishaps. Still I am alive and well and awaiting lots of letters (or is this just wishful thinking.) If I don't get them today, I can't answer, I'm going away, from tomorrow morning till Boxing Day I shall miss my friends and have to face my relations,(the In Laws) God Bless 'Em every one. So then, if you write to me, make it soon, now I'm off to my front room, there to sit and warm my toes as it's cold and I'm alone with no mail, (Glad I spelt that right). >From Bryan, The Wild Celt, Dum Spiro - Spero. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
