    1. [NTH-ENG] COOL CLEAR WATER
    2. Mikey
    3. The statements reported below have not been verified by me but are purportedly based upon a Washington report. Regards, Mikey. Spectemur Agendo. WATER 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half world pop.) In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%. One glass of water shutS down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a U-Washington study. Lack of water, the No.1 trigger of daytime fatigue. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic maths, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day? =================================================

    3. Sorry if this is a repeat but I was sent back my msg, looking mighty funky (multi-part message in MIME format) so I am attempting a resend and hope it looks normal into the list.... Hello Gang :) Thanks Danny, 2sophiee@home.com I remembered you were originally from Liverpool. My woman's instinct was right on the money that you might respond. I have an 8x11 photo copy of an old street map from the early 1900's of the docks off Regent Rd. from Salisbury Dock to Carriers Dock and all the way back to Stanley Park. I know my map is only a small section but very detailed with old street names but I don't see a Salsbury St. But then again it might be on here and I just can't see it for looking to hard? Other kind people from Northern have assisted me with other street names near Salisbury, but I don't see those related streets either, so I am assuming my sad little map is not large enough for me at this time to see the co-ordinance of the distance between where my ancestors once lived (Aspinall St. Kirkdale) to where 1 Union Terrace, Salisbury St.is. But that still will not tell me if 1 Union Terrace Salisbury St. was a residence or a sheltering home for orphans. I guess at 8 years old you won't remember if it was a residential home or a sheltering home site back in 1901? Your map would be greatly appreciated to sort the distance between the two areas. Thanks again Smiles to all, Soph ----- Original Message ----- From: Danny To: NORTHERN-ENGLAND-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, January 31, 2001 1:34 PM Subject: Re: [NTH-ENG] Liverpool Address from 1901 Sophie, I have a 1906 map showing this terrace but I can not send it via Northern, if you mail me your email address I will send you a copy of the map off line, BTW I lived in the next street to salisbury st until I was abt 8 yrs old. 1. [NTH-ENG] GUIDELINES FOR A SUCCESSFUL LIST DISCUSSION
    2. List Admin
    3. Hi Everyone, I thought this may be of interest to all subscribers, MAILING LISTS ROOTSWEB QUESTIONS http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/help/mail5.html#Q7 here is a snippet of the type of information available on the page. GUIDELINES FOR A SUCCESSFUL LIST DISCUSSION The best guidelines come from plain old fashioned common sense. Here are few "technical" suggestions that will help ensure a successful mail list experience: Most of RootsWeb's mailing lists are not moderated, so your email will go to all the list subscribers. Take time to format your post -- think about who your target audience is and state your query clearly. Post your surnames in all CAPS. This means - last names only. Capitalized surnames are easier to identify in a long text message. State your subject clearly. Do not be vague or your post will go unread. Good subject lines might include: LAST NAME, first name (date of birth-date of death) place of birth (city, county, state, country). When replying to a thread (mail message) remove the auto generated RE: and add a new subject line. Most RE:'s subject lines are not read by mail list users. Also cut and paste only the portion of the mail needed to clarify your reply. When replying to a digest message, remove the RE: and cut the trailing digest (the copied portion of the old mail -- in digest -- the entire digest is copied into the new mail). Cut and paste only the portion of the digest needed to clarify your reply. What kinds of posts can be made to a RootsWeb list? Check with your list administrator. Some lists do not allow genealogical queries to be posted while others do. When you subscribe to a RootsWeb list -- a welcome message will be sent to you. Most list administrators discuss list rules in this message. Print this out and save it -- it will also contain instructions on how to unsubscribe from the list if you ever want to. Do's and Don'ts in using a RootsWeb mail list RootsWeb believes that folks should know how to handle themselves appropriately in a public forum and we do not condone any abusive language, harassment, or threats made by any list administrator or subscriber. However, it is unfortunately true, that some folks just don't know what is proper behavior. To help users know what is acceptable behavior and what is not acceptable behavior on a RootsWeb mail list-- here is a list of "Do's and Don'ts". If all list administrator and subscribers follow these simple rules - most list problems would end. DO NOT CROSS POST TO ANOTHER MAIL LIST. If you want to send a message to more than one list -- send it as a separate email. Cross-posting to multiple lists is tantamount to SPAM and can cause major problems for the RootsWeb mail server. A lot of users to do not understand how one email can cause a problem for a the mail server. However, a cross-posted email begins as one single message but it is sent to 20-30 lists (each list contains 100-1000 list subscribers). That one email has now generated upwards of 30,000 mail messages. Add to this the fact that each response to the mail will start the mail cycle over again. It is annoying and dangerous. Do not use abusive or degrading communication of any form on a RootsWeb list. Your list moderator will remove you from the list and will block your posts from reaching the list. Do not "bash" a list subscriber. If you do not agree with a mail message, fine. Send your comments privately to the poster. Do not send "bashing" comments to the whole list. Do not send partial "bash" threads to other lists - it is rude and will only cause problems down the road. Do not send "SPAM" in any form. This includes mail messages that are not on topic for your list, commercial advertising, or threatening mail (just to be annoying). Your list administrator will remove you from the list and will block your posts from reaching the list. 3. Hello Bryan and Everyone, I am becoming a little tired of all this so I will say this only once and expect an end to all this foolishness. I haven't unsubscribed anyone, if someone's mail isn't reaching the list then it is usually caused by server problems or being wrongly addressed as Mikeys was, I wrote and informed him that he was sending to my personal e-mail address and not the list. If I chose to I could certainly block individuals from the list or even moderate the whole list, this is the perogative of all list owners but so far I haven't. Subscribing to a list is like entering someone's party and it is good manners to behave as asked otherwise the host has every reason to ask someone to leave. Please refrain from continuing squabbles on the list, Thank you for your co-operation. 3. Helo Glenda Fach, I had a letter from Mikey today, in which he expressed his sadness that his mailings to the list were not getting through. He seems to think that they are being blocked due to a squabble. I would hate to think or feel that censorship of such a type had become the rule and not an exception. Anyway, the upshot of this is that Mikey has unsubscribed from the list now so, another friend bites the dust so to speak. I admit to feelings of pity for those who may be unable to deal with the problems that arise from time to time and even more so when there is no real cause. How sad it makes the friendships formed on this list and how uncomfortable many people must feel. Still, at least we are here and able to natter away merrily. Mae'n niwlog ac gwylyb yma y bore ma. Once it was emptied I had to put the car back. It seems a nuisance but, it is better that than having to push Debbies wheelchair up the slope of the path and then along the pavement which really does my emphysema no good at all. Still, that is all done now and I have had that stimulating drink that we know in England as a Cup of tea and in Wales as a Cwpanad y te. Warm, brown fluid with milk and sugar to taste.
