    1. [NORTH-CENTRAL-KENTUCKY] LUCY WARREN SUTTON
    2. Judy Admire
    3. I am looking for information about my husband's great grandmother.  Her name was Lucy (Lucinda) Warren, born November 20, 1880 in Kentucky.  She married Samuel G. Sutton, son of Andrew Jackson Sutton and Amanda Jane Cummins.  Samuel was born in Rockcastle Co., KY on Sept. 14, 1876. Lucy was most likely from Rockcastle or a nearby county.  She was born after the 1880 Census, no help there. She and Samuel were married Nov. 4, 1896 in Paxton, Illinois.  I have a copy of the marriage record, her parents are listed, difficult to read, father's first name looks like Hamsa  (maybe Thomas or a nickname for Abraham?) last name is Warren (?Warner) and mother is Sarah Burtram (Burtrass/Bertram?).   Lucy Sutton raised her family in Peoria and died there, June 7, 1933.  Any information you have on her Kentucky roots or family would be greatly appreciated.

    1. [NORTH-CENTRAL-KENTUCKY] COONS DNA TEST REQUEST
    2. Sharlene
    3. Hello Everyone, This message is an attempt to locate any living male persons with the surname Coons, Coonce, Coontz or any of the other derivative spellings who would be willing to participate in the FamilyTreeDNA testing program. My research partner and distant cousin, Scott Coonce, and I have our line traced back to Martin Coons, born circa 1775. Martin Coons married Mary (Polly) Locke in Jefferson County, Kentucky, April 5, 1796. We have been attempting to make a connection with the correct Coons/etc. line for over ten years. For those not familiar with the DNA projects, they can help sort out families who share a common ancestor and those that just share a surname. When descendants of several men with the same surname and location are tested, you can see which ones have the same DNA pattern and which ones aren't close. It can eliminate possible connections so that you don't research unrelated family as well as confirm that two lines are related. When you see the results from just one individual, it is just a string of numbers. Any participant of this project must be male. For many years as we followed our line back, we were positive 'our' Martin Coons was the son of Jacob Coons who married Elizabeth Hanbach in Montgomery County, Kentucky and died September 22, 1807. DNA testing has proved that to be untrue. Therefore, the search goes on. We would very much appreciate contact from anyone who is interested or has any questions regarding this program. To see the names of the numerous participants in the Coon surname group, please visit www.Familytreedna.com/public/coon. You are also invited to send a message to: Scott Coonce at scottc@alaska.net with any questions or concerns. Thank you very much. We look forward to hearing from you. Sharlene Coontz Meyer

    3. Mary Mains is Mary Vane Mains. Squire Mains is ??? Next estate settlement right in the next folder after George Mains, All of the surnames are MANN. But frequently Mains and Mann are mixed up/interchangable. The Peter Mann that is listed does not match the Peter Mains in George's file. Interesting puzzle. I am doing fine. Have a new grandson, May 16th. Plan to go to FGS conference at Fort Wayne, IN in Aug. Other wise keeping busy. 3. Hi I use the software RootsMagic which is at www.RootsMagic.com The software keeps my data and then when I go to print I can make a *.rtf file which I can put into MSWord and the data becomes sentences, the page numbers, index and sources transfer with the file. When I get it into word, if the pictures do not go, I add pictures, correct the extra white spaces with Word controls, and generate the index. I have used this software for years, (was Family Origins now RootsMagic) as it does a very good job for documentation. The newest revision 3.2 just came out and is cheap $29.00 If you are interested download the sample program and try it and then if you like what you see all you have to do it pay for it and they send you the key to make it legal. I have created about 6 different family books this way. Yes there is a book printing inside of the software but I want to control my final printout different than what they had in the software so I transfer it to Word.
