Hello Listers, After a long spell away I am happy to be back amongst you all and to enjoy the various exchanges taking place in Norfolk genealogy. Just to restate my interests, if I may, I have for some time been researching my wife's family in Norfolk and Suffolk. The Norfolk side were the Gooch family from Thetford where her Grandfather and earlier generations were Shoemakers latterly based in Kings Street. The premises in Kings Street which were Gooch's Shoe Shop and later Siddals were at one time a House, Blacksmiths Traverse , Workshop and Two Forges - there was also a second lot with a barn and Cart Shed. We know this was all up for sale by auction by Oldman and Sons 16th Sept 1909 which is when we presume Mr Gooch acquired it. We have some more recent photographs of the shop when it was Gooches and also Siddals but are hoping to find some pictures or photographs of when it was still the Forge and Blacksmiths. I wonder if anyone associated with the list could help us with any information or background? Many thanks all and kind regards, Robin. Robin S Carsberg.
