Thanks to all of you who responded so helpfully to my query. It just makes me realise how vulnerable our records are when we rely on technology, which always seems to be two steps ahead of us. When our systems give up the ghost, it is always without warning, and, unless we have planned ahead, many must be in the same boat as me! However, I am sure, with all your suggestions, I can cope.
