    3. Samuel White was my 2x great uncle and he was a lithographer and printer, so therefore in the address entry it shows his place of work, Ticket Writers, which was also his residence. Lived above the shop so to speak. Upper Westwick Street is now called St Benedicts Street. As an aside Samuel drowned in the river Yare at Postwick in 1875 during a "frolic" Regards Pat Sent from my iPad > On 28 Jul 2014, at 16:54, Ros via <[email protected]> wrote: > > Hello, Wendy - It looks "Ticket Writer" or something like that. 3. So we have maligned the poor old enumerator after all :-( But that makes sense, the address is his business Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 28/07/2014 19:08, Patricia via wrote: > Samuel White was my 2x great uncle and he was a lithographer and printer, so therefore in the address entry it shows his place of work, Ticket Writers, which was also his residence. 3. Absolutely and how wonderful to have him for an uncle. Makes perfect sense now like Hinds or Hovells. 3. Pat - That explains why I couldn't find Samuel White in the 1881 census. (I was curious about who was living at his address ten years on and whether the enumerator at that time had written any other additional note by his address.) Some of my ancestors are from Postwick (surname TITE) as well. 3. Pat Looked up St Benedicts Street to see where it fitted with the Cambridge census I am 'doing'. None of my map programmes can find it. Perhaps it has been "redeveloped"! Any idea about any nearby streets? 3. No wonder I couldn't find it, I had Cambridge on the brain and looked in the wrong town :-(. Thanks to Rosie for putting me straight I found the right street in Norwich under it new name, St Benedicts Street. By following the schedule numbers on the 1871 from the Plough Inn, which still exists, it is possible to see the actual place on Streetview beside the entrance to what is now Plough Yard.
