Hi Nivard, I would have expected that too . An MC is worth shouting about, but nothing on either memorial . The CWGC shows Mrs Vera Frost at 12 Eden Vale , Sunderland but like you I couldn`t find a marriage for them .......and that explains the second address on the medal card. but the first address was Wisbech Road, Norfolk, . And I think the Frosts of Downham West would certainly be considered as on the Wisbech Road. He is an interesting chap and I would like to claim him ........not for nothing were serving soldiers commissioned, and not for nothing were soldiers awarded the MC .....now to find the citation . life is hard . soften it with a cat \\\=^..^=/// ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nivard Ovington" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, March 02, 2014 11:42 PM Subject: Re: [NFK] JOHN W FROST > Hi Elizabeth > > I could not find a Vera FROST or marriage to one, different names at > that address in 1911 > > This man has a Military Cross and I would have expected that to be > mentioned on a memorial, is it? > > UK, Soldiers Died in the Great War, 1914-1919 about John William Frost > Name: John William Frost > Death Date: 23 Mar 1919 > Rank: Lieutenant > Regiment: Northamptonshire Regiment > Battalion: 2nd Battalion > Decoration: MC > Type of Casualty: Died > > From the CWGC > > FROST, JOHN WILLIAM > Rank: Lieutenant > Date of Death: 23/03/1919 > Age: 29 > Regiment/Service: Northamptonshire Regiment 2nd Bn. > Awards: M C > Grave Reference I1. 224. > Cemetery OXFORD (BOTLEY) CEMETERY > Additional Information: > Husband of Vera Frost, of 12, Eden Vale, Sunderland. > > Supplement to the London Gazette 17th January 1919 (p)873 > > North'n R - 2nd Lt.
