Hi , another puzzle .....going on the basis that most of these young men were born between 1885 and 1895 I tried the 1891 and 1901 census for John Frost, and came up with a family of John and Eliza with children living in Bridge St , Downham. By 1911 the family are in Downham west but no sign of John ......however the Medal Cards show a John William originally Corp 19th Hussars , who was later commissioned into the Northants Regt .....he was commissioned in April 1917 . No happy ending here, the Matron of Templeton House , Roehampton , forwards the claim of 2nd Lt JW Frost to 1914 star, in Dec 1917 , and Mrs J W applies for medals due to her LATE son ,. he died in March 1919 . And the address given for Mrs J W Frost is 2/ Wisbech Road, Norfolk. but alongside that is 12 Eden Vale , Sunderland. in a later hand ...... What does the list make of this man ? is he the missing John Frost on our memorial ? His mother was Eliza Frost but her husband had been a John Frost so would she call herself Mrs J W as widow ? is that even relevant ? life is hard . soften it with a cat \\\=^..^=///
