Hello Dennis and Nivard, I have seen parents as witnesses - in quite a lot of cases of this it is where one or both of the parties are under-age and the parents have had to give their consent. The LDS images for Norfolk are online, but I do not see Bradfield listed, so that makes me wonder whether the LDS have the original or a transcription/member submission. That suggests contacting Norfolk Record Office as being your best option for a copy. Hi Peter I didn't say parents are never recorded, just that normally they are not On occasion you get a father, even rarer a mother if one or other (usually the bride) were a minor but even then it depended upon the clerk recording the relationship, sometimes the witnesses have the same names as the parents but you can't say with any certainly that they were the parents, in my experience siblings, uncle/aunt or cousins are more likely The parent(s) didn't need to be recorded to give permission, or in fact be there in person Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 01/03/2014 07:59, Peter J Richardson wrote: > Hello Dennis and Nivard, > > I have seen parents as witnesses - in quite a lot of cases of this it is > where one or both of the parties are under-age and the parents have had to > give their consent. > > The LDS images for Norfolk are online, but I do not see Bradfield listed, so > that makes me wonder whether the LDS have the original or a > transcription/member submission.
