Thank you both Elizabeth and Jean. Elizabeth, I did find the Jonathan Daniel you mentioned, baptised at Metton in 1747, and wondered if it was, indeed, my Jonathan Daniel. Although I have no evidence, I was taken with the fact that his father was Samuel, a name which has carried through in the Daniels family. Also, the age is right, as that would make him 24 when he married in 1771. I was a little puzzled, though, to find the second Jonathan Daniel, baptised at Metton in 1767 to the same parents. Why would they name a second child as Jonathan if the first one was still alive? I have worked back from the marriage of Samuel Daniel of Metton and his wife Mary Bond in 1745 to the possibility that the family originally came from Matlaske. A Jonathan Daniell was born in Matlaske in 1682, who may have been Samuel's father - again, the names follow through. However, a Jonathan and Mary Daniel were in Blickling when they had their first child baptised in 1703. I wondered if this is possibly the same family who moved away and then returned to Blickling for a while, before moving away again. There is no mention of the Daniel family in Blicking after 1715, until, in 1772, we find Jonathan and Catherine Daniel. My problem is that this is all speculative, purely based on family names, and I would love to be able to find some sort of evidence. I believe he may have been from Aldborough, but can get no further than a record of a marriage in Aldborough of a Jonathan DANIEL (of this parish, i.e. Aldborough) and Catherine SCOUTEN from Knapton, in 1771. > > I wondered if anyone can tell me if there are any records, which can be accessed, which show the movement of people through the parishes in the eighteenth century. > > > From: "elizabeth howard" <[email protected]> > Subject: [NFK] Daniel/Daniels Blickling 1772 - Parish records of movement? > Date: 8 June 2014 17:08:01 BST > To: <[email protected]> > Reply-To: [email protected] > > > Hi, FreeReg has a Jonathan Daniel bapt at Metton , 1767 son of Samuel and Mary .
