Free or pay to view Survey The trustees of Free UK Genealogy, Freereg, FreeBMD and Freecensus propose to change the availability of data transcribed by volunteers from being free to pay to view. This survey is being carried out to determine which option is preferred and is open to all past, present and future volunteers of these organisations. Feel free to send this message to any website, chat group and anyone with an interest in the future of these organisations. A vote for pay to view indicates support for the new proposed volunteer agreement. A vote for free indicates that the new volunteer agreement must include a clause saying that data transcribed by volunteers will never be used for commercial purposes. To vote send your responses in the subject line directly to me: jseakins@gmail.com You may also wish to email your vote to the Executive Director: Pat.reynolds@freeukgen.org.uk I will report on the preliminary results on August 1 with a final report on 8 August which will give time for the Executive Director to modify the volunteer agreement if necessary. Thank you for all the messages received so far and I urge you to make the message clear that we want these organisations to continue to be successful. The future of these organisations depend on us: the volunteers. John Seakins (PhD) Auckland, New Zealand
