    3. In 1796 a Henry WAYTE married a Susanna ALLEN at Wells, and Freereg has a series of baptisms from that date, the last of which in 1813 reachs dates when occupations were specified. And the occupation is transcribed as "tide waiter". Records are all on Freereg or alternatively on http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~tinstaafl/Church_Pages/wells.htm This could potentially be either same Henry or a related Henry. Susanna looks to have died in 1844 aged 71 and Henry looks to have married another Susanna later that year. The age for Susanna does not quite correlate with your 1851 age for Henry. I don't know how this ties in with his military service. Looks like all the official documentation that might still survice for customs officials is at TNA, and not available via any online sources. http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/help-with-your-research/research-guides/customs-officers/ regards Keith Drage On 08/02/2016 19:18, xpn11 via wrote: > I forgot to mention that, sorry-being with customs seems a fit > occupation for an army pensioner. more so than cockling , These are my > husband's researches .Henry is the second husband of one of his ancestors. > Thanks again > Rosie > > On 08/02/2016 19:11, Nivard Ovington via wrote: >> Hi again >> >> In 1841 Hy WAYTE aged 64 (should be enumerated as 60) is an Army P (Army >> Pensioner) >> >> Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) >> >> On 08/02/2016 19:01, xpn11 via wrote: >>> Opinions welcomed if anyone feels inclined. >>> 1851 census for Wells Next the Sea, Henry Wayte born Aldborough >>> Norfolk age 74 (. 3. Thankyou to everyone who replied-the super ( annuated ) would not have occurred to me in this context when I was asked to view the census return. As the second marriage was in very late years I think my husband neglected to follow up baptisms of his ancestors step children. I had a quick look recently on TNA website for Customs and Revenue services in another context and research does not look easy going . Thanks again.
