    3. I came across the item below on a loose sheet of paper in the Minutes book of the Erpingham Union Poor Law Guardians when working on what's turning out to be a marathon transcription of the said Minutes. Hopefully of interest. To date I’ve transcribed just over 650 images (1300 manuscript pages) of the 2098 related to Erpingham, and put the first set (up to and including 536) into a first Volume, covering the weekly meetings of the Guardians from the 12th. of April 1836 to the 28th. December 1840. At present I’m proofreading and compiling an index and I think it will be a few weeks yet before I can ‘publish’ Vol. 1 & supporting material on line and I’ll let you know when & where in due course. Best regards ................... Bill Atkins At this time the Union had workhouses at Sheringham (hold mainly the Union's old & infirm paupers) and Gimingham. The old 'Gilbert Union' workhouse at North Walsham was used very occasionally as a quarantine facility. 'A List of Paupers Maintained in the Sherringham House for the Week Ending Oct 2d. 1841.' 3. Well done you !!! it is a marathon no question of that .......I have chickened out and am doing Downham Union workhouse B of G minutes in summary . But I think you will find post 1840 it is more humdrum run of the mill daily /weekly stuff and much less frantic than the years of the building and setting up the Union house . It is however addictively interesting stuff and I am sure there will be a lot of people with ancestors from Sheringham and Erpingham who will be grateful to you for your dedication . life is hard . soften it with a cat \\\=^..^=/// ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill Atkins" <bill.atkins@ntlworld.com> To: <NORFOLK@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 30, 2011 1:01 PM Subject: [NFK] Sheringham Workhouse Inmates, October 1841 >I came across the item below on a loose sheet of paper in the Minutes book > of the Erpingham Union Poor Law Guardians when working on what's turning > out > to be a marathon transcription of the said Minutes.
