    2. Bonnie Many of the villages around the City such as Heigham, Catton, Thorpe, Trowse and Lakenham became joined to it in the late 18th and early 19th C by building infill. Some of this was in outlying parts of Norwich parishes and the terms "New Lakenham", "New Catton" etc refer to these areas, as does Thorpe Hamlet, Trowse Milgate and Pockthorpe - all these were parts of the City while the old village centres remained parishes of the County.
