    3. One of my husband's ancestors whom I believe was born Lakenham 1780 identified himself in 1851 as having been born in Norwich. Was Lakenham virtually part of the city of Norwich by 1851? Bonnie

    3. Yes, I think so. At least some of the 1841 census records for Lakenham were in the Mancroft Registrar's District in Norwich. I have lots of people in my family born in Lakenham in the 19th century (but only back to 1836), and they invariably described themselves as born in Norwich in the censuses.
