    3. How much was down to the enumerator in such cases? A ggfther was born in Hempton. Sometimes this is the given parish for census - but at other times Fakenham is recorded. Can't help wondering whether the enumerator's reaction was "never 'eard of it. What's the nearest town?" on occasion. Similar things occur in my Scottish records e.g.Perth instead of Bridge of Earn, just outside the city.
