HI, We have recently returned from a trip to Norfolk and visited our Barkers villages of East Dereham, Hoe, Norwich. We stayed a few days and managed to get a church listing of burials of St Nicholas East Dereham for Barkers and also for the Dereham Cemetery for Barkers buried there after late 1860's when they stopped burying folks in the churchyard. I have started an ancestry Barkers of East Dereham so if there are others who want to connect and do not directly belong to my James Barker born Hoe 1809 and Sarah Munday born in Norwich then they can. I will apologise for the early Barkers as I do not know how they all connect or in fact if they are connected but I did have to just hand the different families for Barkers who may be related. I am hoping that eventually that can all be corrected. Please email me if you do have Barkers from East Dereham or surrounds in your tree as I may have their burial details. We also took a few photos of the church and a couple of interesting sights. I am happy to share those. Cheers Gay in Western Australia. PS loved Norfolk and staying in the area of the ancestors. We visited the abbey priory at Castle Acre wow that was spiritual. Pity about all the destruction of the place by Cromwell's lot!
Hi Gay, I have an Elizabeth Barker who married Edward Rippingale in Flitcham in 1760. Could she be connected to your Barkers? I don't know where she came from, but East Dereham isn't that far away from Flitcham.
