    3. Hi all, I've been trying to find the baptism of my 3g grandfather, Francis TAYLOR. He married Mary DEWING on 25 Apr 1782 in East Raynham by licence. Both were "of this parish". He was buried in East Raynham on 19 Nov 1814. His age was recorded as either 68 or 60, making a birth date either 1746 or 1754. He was apprenticed to Charles Pettifer, West Rainham, blacksmith, on 14 Feb 1767 - which makes a birth ca 1754 likely as I believe boys were usually aged 13 at the time of their becoming apprentices. He was not baptised in East Raynham. There was an Overing Taylor buried there on 16 Mar 1774 and Elizabeth Taylor of West Raynham on 13 Oct 1791, aged 75 - possibly related? In looking for baptisms in nearby parishes that might fit, I found a William and Frances Taylor, also a William and Alice Taylor (possibly a second marriage) having children in the 1750s in Weasenham. One that caught my eye was for a Frances TAYLOR in 1754, parents William and Frances. Only problem is she's female! I've checked the entry and it does say "daughter" - could the minister have been wrong?? Other children were named Alice and James. Along with William and Francis, they all appear in the next generations of my Taylors. Am I clutching at straws? Where else can I look? Is 1754 too early for most baptisms to have been recorded? Any feedback greatly appreciated. Regards Jan

    3. Hi, in the uber complex new familysearch site there is a Francis Taylor b c 1758 son of Samuel and Eleanor in Beeston , and a further Francis b c 1760 son of James and Martha , Stratton Strawless but neither seem right so you may well have to trawl round and round the Raynhams in ever increasing circles ........and yes bapts were all to be recorded from the Reformation 1537/8 onward , but some don`t survive particularly from the Civil War period . life is hard . soften it with a cat \\\=^..^=/// ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jan Glasby" <jglas@hotmail.com> To: <norfolk-l@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, October 28, 2011 1:57 AM Subject: [NFK] Help needed in finding baptism > > Hi all, > > I've been trying to find the baptism of my 3g grandfather, Francis TAYLOR. > > He married Mary DEWING on 25 Apr 1782 in East Raynham by licence.
