Hello to all listers, Several weeks ago there was some discussion on list regarding the name Soane. Well, I also have an interest in that name, realising there are several variants of the spelling. My Great Grandfather's baptism, St. Mary's Saxlingham Nethergate 1812 has recorded John Gowen father and mother (late Hannah Soane/i) and there I'm stuck. My hope is someone out there may be able to point me in the right direction. Roma

Hello Roma I think you may be referring to my posting. My Soanes however, came from Great Yarmouth.  The earliest I have managed to get to so far is the marriage of Thomas Soanes to Hannah Dorkins in 1800 in Yarmouth. I have no Hannah Soanes's although I haven't yet followed up all their children or discovered where Thomas originated.
