Marilyn, Your offer to help is much appreciated - my on-line searches indicate the Thomas William LANGLEY (1872-1958) was probably partner in an auctioneering business in Perth, became a city councillor and served as deputy mayor in 1937. I seek to confirm his origins in London and relationship to Arthur Joseph Langley, sometime licensee of the Jolly Dealers public house in Rockland All Saints, who also emigrated to Perth. (This last to show the Norfolk connection!) I have been unable to establish just when in 1958 Thomas William died - but would hope that his passing would have warranted a report in the local press that includes some biographical detail. I found the following WAHLiN reference (http://www.slwa.wa.gov.au/find/catalogue): [Information about Thomas William Langley, d.1958] Hill, Kaye.1981. 3rd Floor Ephemera Stack PR14514/LAN/1 - 0/20 On-line newspaper items also indicate that his son, Keith (Sprocket) Langley, was sculling champion of Western Australia in 1929, and there may be some further information held relating to him. Hi Stan, I have had a look in the Trove site of the National Libray newspapers online and found several references, searching in Western Australian papers only, of Thomas William Langley as councillor as well as his marriage. I could only find one reference to Arthur Joseph Langley and that was his death notice. There were several of Keith Langly, including his marriage report in the gossip column. http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper This is the link to Trove. It is free to search and there is a facility to copy the article as text so it can be copied and pasted. I have made corrections to the digital copy and tagged them with the langly names. If you contact me off line at aus.bailey@gmail.com I can email you a word document of the ones I have copied. I will leave the rest for you to search.
