About this date full second names were not indexed - only the initial letter. So you need to search for "Mary A Roberts". There are quite a few of them so you will need to specify the birth year - "@1831" or if you aren't sure you could use "@1829-1833" or some other variant. (Obviously you don't use the quotation marks in the search boxes - just the text etc between them!) Of course she might only be recorded as "Mary Roberts", depending on who the informant was and how well he knew her. You should also check that FreeBMD have actually completed the indexing for all the relevant years and places. Also beware that the person registering the death may not have had an accurate age at death - and the age on the census may not have been accurate either.
