It was a wonderful achievement to pay a small part on Bev's team to complete the 1861 census transcription. My focus is now on helping Bev and her team to complete the 1871 transcription but there are still lots of pieces to do before it is finished. I must point out that the original written pages are sometimes very difficult to read; not just bad writing but faded ink and also darkened and damaged paper. Seasons Greeting to all. Hi I just wanted to say thank you to John and all the other volunteers who have helped complete the 1861 Norfolk transcription. It is also very encouraging to know that the transcription is proving useful. With regards the 1891 and 1871 Norfolk census, actually the transcription of both is almost done, I still have 8 or so Norwich pieces awaiting allocation for transcription for 1871 if anyone is interested. However, I do have many pieces which have been transcribed but need checking before we can add them to the database. Checking involves comparing the transcription against the original records, it is a labourious task but is a necessary part in the process. If anyone is interested in further details about either transcription or checking please feel free to get in touch, I would love to hear from you. Hope everyone has a Happy Healthy and Peaceful Christmas and New Year.
