Edward Hugh BRIGGS is listed as a watchmakers in Bridewell Alley in directories of 1877 and 1883. He opened a shop in Cromer in 1894. By 1908 the Cromer shop was advertised as James J. Briggs, while the Norwich business (now at 36 Upper King Street) was continued by J. H. Briggs. If anyone has any further information about the family or business, I should be pleased to hear from them. -- Christopher Pipe BA DipLib MCLIP researching and indexing Norfolk history cp@wmk.demon.co.uk
