    1. [NFK] PR burial - Northwold

    3. I found a PR at the LDS site for the church in Northwold. http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#w=0&p=waypoint&c=fs%3A1416598&s=waypointsOnly   My question: Does a parish register cover burials ONLY at one churchyard ?   I would like to find the grave of Charles Cock, buried Dec. 5, 1867, aged 38. He is in that PR.   I have searched through the transcript of St. Andrews, Northwold, graves but he is not there. I realize that his may not be marked but since his father, John, was a 'leading light' in Methodism and a well-to-do farmer, he'd probably had a headstone, acknowledging it couldn't have been destroyed or even buried by now....or the transcriber could have just missed it. He has 2 sisters with a memorial tablet outside the now derelict Northwold Method. Chapel. (yes, 2 girls' names are there-I have photos- not sure why the NHC's notes ignore the younger sister...)   http://www.heritage.norfolk.gov.uk/SingleResult.aspx?uid=MNF46483 To me, it doesn't look like a headstone, more like a memorial.....so again, does anyone know if all burials in Northwold were at St. Andrews? those girls' names aren't in the St. Andrews transcript, either.   Thanks so much for you thoughts, Pam

    3. Pam The church burial register is only for burials in the church yard and would not include Nonconformists buried elsewhere. Burials recorded in the PRs do not necessarily all have surviving memorials There was another burial ground at the far end of what is now the school playing field, and this certainly included 19th C burials although the area was cleared and added to the playing field, around the 1970's. I don't know if the memorials were transcribed. There is also a cemetery off School Lane which was established some time in the 20th C. Next time I visit family in Northwold I will see if I can get more exact information. 3. An update on this thread, now I have spoken to my father about it (he was at one time Parish Clerk at Northwold) The second burial ground (now cleared and part of the school playing field) was a new church cemetery, opened around 1850 because the church yard was full. It fell out of use around WW1 and the third burial ground off School Lane was opened then. Burials in the 1850+ cemetery will be in the church burial registers. The stones were cleared away, but there is a notice posted of the names of those who were buried there.
