Quick question of the day!! If a man is listed on the baptism record of his childs baptism, is it possible he could have been absent from the ceremony? Jan
Jan Yes, absolutely. Many ladies went back to their mothers or near family for the birth of their eldest child, leaving the husband alone, continuing to earn his living. If it was feared that the child might not survive, a quick private baptism in the parish of birth might follow rather than waiting for the journey home. After a weekend of an 18th birthday party followed by an extremely lazy, but well deserved day I think I am being driven around the twist by a baptism and burial that are invisible!! I have the following from family search https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.2/MZJC-V34/p2 It is a burial for Isaac Marham. I have looked through the images of the Beeston burials as well as the Mileham burials and nothing. Neither can I find his baptism in either church. The family started in Mileham and continued in Beeston. Plenty of children and their subsequent deaths but no Isaac. Could someone please take a look for me and put me out of my misery?? It looks very genuine and informative so doubt they invented it!!! Jan
