    3. HI, I know - and have asked for more information - still waiting for answers. Often people tell me they haven't got much to go on, but after questioning, they have more than they initially thought and they just didn't think to pass it on. Unfortunately, some people don't answer emails as quickly as I'd hope them to d - o so I try to get head by asking on the list. One never knows who is on any particular list and sometimes a person following the same branch(s) pops up and surprises me. King is like my BRIGGS - too many of them :) Many thanks for replying. Ann in very hot Perth. Subject: [NFK] KING surname Hi, the answers to some of this problem may be in the certificates of marriage 1882 and the death cert of ??? the marriage will give the father`s full name and occupation ...........what you have here is simply not enough with King for a surname .

Does the list software not at least provide a way to check the originating IP address of this persistent p.platten sender and their crap? 3. Good afternoon list, I'm currently looking for information for a lady who lives in South Africa. She is tracing her G Grandfather WALTER KING, who apparently was born in Norfolk. 1880: Walter King, ?wheelwright. All I have is that My great-grandmother Sarah Jane Porter married Walter King ( m.23rd May 1882 in SA). Walter came to South Africa when he was twelve years old with his father to help the British Military with their wagons and fixed their wheels. Walter is buried in Grahamstown, South Africa. The family came from Norfolk. That is all I have. If you can help trace him in Norfolk I have looked for a long time and cannot find anything that might help and this includes immigration lists. . I have emailed her and asked for more information (if she has any). In the meantime if anyone can advise on where to look next, much appreciated. 3. Hi Ann, Does your friend have Walter's marriage certificate, and if so does it give his age and/or occupation and/or his father's name and occupation? If she hasn't got it, can she get a copy of it? (I don't know how much detail you get on SA marriage certificates.) Alternatively, how old was Walter when he died? At least we could then work back to a likely year of birth and a date of emigration. No good looking for him on the 1871 census if he was in South Africa by then. :) Pam On 12 December 2015 at 08:13, SBS Engineers Research via < norfolk@rootsweb.com> wrote: > Good afternoon list, > > I'm currently looking for information for a lady who lives in South > Africa. 3. Gerry, I can't help with your question but I suffer from the reverse problem - Tilletts who might be Silletts. If you had any Tillett references you doubt, I might be able to say whether they are Silletts or not. Brian Sillett -----Original Message----- From: Gerry Newnham (Home)via Sent: Friday, December 4, 2015 5:04 PM To: Norfolk FHS Subject: [NFK] Search for TILLET(T) in Calthorpe and Colby Is there some kind person who could please check the original parish registers for Calthorpe and Colby (not the Archdeacon’s Transcripts, which are incomplete) for any TILLET(T)/FILLET(T)/SILLET(T) baptisms, marriage or burials for the years 1733 to 1755? I know there is baptism for a Thomas TILLET in Calthorpe in 1738 (although this is mis-transcribed by FreeReg as SILLET) and also a baptism for a Matthew TILLET in Colby in 1750. The parents would be Joseph and Martha TILLET (nee STAMP), who married in Bannningham in 1732 and had one child, John, baptised there in 1733. 3. Hello Lisa, You posted the surname GIRDLESTONE and I have a few in my CULLING family tree for Norfolk, England as foollows: Mary Ann GIRDLESTONE and according to the 1851 Norfolk Census was born in 1814 at Catton (1861 Census place is noted), Norfolk. By the 1881 Census in Heigham, Norfolk, Mary was a widow and living with her daughter, Matilda WHITE nee CULLING. Mary Ann married Joshua CULLING, (b 1791) AT Norwich, Norfolk on 26 Jan, 1840. And, interesting for you in the US, Joshua died in Chicago on 23 Feb, 1876 at age 85 yrs. Mary Ann and Joshua had several children before he deserted her. The 1851 Norfolk Census states "deserted by husband" next to Mary Ann's name. I haven't yet found out why Joshua left Mary Ann and in particular, why he went to the US. I believe Mary Ann's parent were John GIRDLESTON and Mary. Further research is needed to confirm this. I will be pleased if you could let me know if this family ties in with yours? Also, do you think it is possible to find Joshua CULLING (b 1791) in the US? Hoping to hear from you and I am happy to share any further information. sincerely, Diane Foster - Western Australia On Wed, Dec 2, 2015 at 3:49 AM, Lisa Dayley via <norfolk@rootsweb.com> wrote: > Hey everybody: > I haven't posted in a while. 3. Not as far as I know, but then we’re only back to their paternal grandparents on that line. Some of their 9 siblings have second given names but they are all ‘normal’ for given names. Worth bearing in mind for the future though. Thanks for the thought.
