    3. I have been searching for the baptism of Joshua Nurse/Nourse. His obit in a Canadian newspaper gives his birth place as South Craig, Norfolk, which I am assuming is South Creake. His date of birth is 22 April 1824, I realise he could have been baptised later, so didn’t make this year a cut off point. I have searched on Ancestry, Find my Past, Family Search and NORS, but have not found anything. I don’t seem to be able to browse Norfolk parish records on family search, has this facility gone? Also does anyone know if any South Creake parish records are missing? Many thanks Pam C

    2. Bev Howlett via
    3. Hi I am writing to provide an update on the 1891 census project. One further piece has been uploaded to the on line database and is now searchable for free on the main Freecen site at http://www.freecen.org.uk This is Piece RG12/1570 Kings Lynn which covers the parishes of North Lynn, South Lynn, St Margaret , West Lynn This means that there are now 378,393 (87.7%) 1891 Norfolk census records available to search free on line. Many thanks to all the volunteers who have kindly given up their free time to assist with the project without their help this information would not be available. Please see the main Freecen site or my website (see my signature for a link) for details of which pieces are on line. Finally don’t forget that a complete transcription for the Norfolk 1861 and 1871 census is available on the FreeCen site. Hope this helps you in your research Bev -- Bev Howlett FreeCen Co-Ordinator Norfolk 1861,1871,1891 Cambridge 1891 Surrey 1871,1891 Find Out How To Help http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/bevsnorfolkinfo/ http://www.freecen.org.uk

    3. I suspect the best way forward would be to obtain the marriage certificate You can minimise the chance of a wrong certificate by ordering with no GRO reference which allows checking points to be added, such as her fathers name, if they find a match you get the cert, if not you get a refund There are no deaths registered during the first war years for a lady of that name and approx age In WW2 the civilians who died during the bombing should be on the CWGC It sounds like you don't have the date of birth of Rosa to allow the 1939 NIR to be checked further Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 29/06/2016 17:14, DavidTennant wrote: > Nivard > She appears on the 1891 census as Rosa age 3months and born at Paston > My mother, her sister, was born 1895 at Edingthorpe so who knows? > 1901 census father is listed on the Scarborough Hospital return. Hi David Her birth was registered as Rosa in the March qtr of 1891 registered Smallburgh In 1891 she is Rosa, with family aged 3 months In 1901 with mother (no father at home) as Rose aged 10 In 1911 she is aged 20 born Edington (nr Paston) she is a domestic servant with a HARPER household So at no time is she a Rose or Rosa A , so what makes you believe the 1912 marriage is her? 3. Nivard She appears on the 1891 census as Rosa age 3months and born at Paston My mother, her sister, was born 1895 at Edingthorpe so who knows? 1901 census father is listed on the Scarborough Hospital return. A patient? It's sometime since I concluded the marriage to Clarke was hers., so I've forgotten the reasoning. You are right to raise doubts. Further to the train crash my understanding was that it was during WW1. I too have searched the fatalities in WW1 train crashes with no success. A death, if it was her, in Hackney in 1940 could have been as a result of the blitz perhaps? A bit of background The Fishers moved to Scarborough c 1899 leaving my Mother with an aunt in Suffield. She, a person of her time, never mentioned Rose(a). The family moved from Scarborough to Canada in 1912 leaving Rose and another older sister who was getting married in UK.
