Four children in total. 1841 census Thomas indexed as Soares by Ancestry, wife and children as Soans. HO107/793/4/ folio 23 page 39 IGI has an extracted marriage 11 April 1826 Thomas Soans (sic) to Mary Ann Neales at St Nicholas Great Yarmouth. 3. When we think of Great Yarmouth, we tend to think of the vast parish church of St Nicholas, the town's parish church through the medieval period. However, bear in mind that by the 1860s ASt Nicholas had been carved up, and there were several parishes in Great Yarmouth. As well as the familiar, medieval St Nicholas there were the parishes of St Peter, St George, St John, St James (though still without a church building) and St Mary Southtown - several of them had larger populations than the mother parish of St Nicholas, and St Peter and St Mary Southtown in particular served the areas of town where the fishermen lived. 3. Yes they often do. Then I try the archdeacons transcripts and the bishops transcripts. The bishops transcripts are particularly hard to navigate as they're subdivided in the 2 archdeaconries, Norfolk and Norwich, and a town could be in either one, depending on the year. 3. Nothing as far as I know. You can export reports from FTM, of course. Charts from FTM can go to PDF or JPG but I wouldn't think that would be usable, particularly not on the regular size Kindle. Reports can export to RTF or HTML and I know Calibre converts RTF to MOBI without any problems. 3. I'd say nothing is "proved" but it does sound very much like a Methodist circle (or evangelical CofE - I don't know the sympathies of the minister in their parish) . -- Christopher Pipe BA DipLib MCLIP researching and indexing Norfolk history cp@wmk.demon.co.uk -----Original Message----- From: norfolk-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:norfolk-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Bonnie Ostler Sent: 15 July 2011 11:53 To: norfolk@rootsweb.com Subject: [NFK] non-conformist? Elizabeth Rumble b. 1758 Shipdham m 1779 Cranworth Allen Good b. ca 1755 Swanton Morley and had ten children between 1780 and 1800. The sons names were ordinary enough, Allen, James James, John Robert. It is the girls names that I find interesting and Biblical. First daughter Jemima, second daughter Keziah, third daughter Phebe, fourth daughter Keren-Happuch, fifth daughter Mary. In the Bible Job had three daughters, the first was Jemima, second Keziah and third was Keren-Happuch. In the Good household, it seems that at least one parent balked when it came to naming the third daughter Keren-Happuch but relented by the time the fourth daughter was born. I have been unable to find this couple in non-conformist records but some of their offspring later show up in Methodist records. Elizabeth's first cousin married Baptist William Vassar (family was originally Walloon). Does the naming pattern of the Good daughters prove that the couple was non-conformist? Is this the sort of thing that a Church of England couple would do?
