    3. Maureen, Just off hand without checking up to date content on FS, the registers of parishes roughly west of the River GT Ouse but in Norfolk, don't seem to be on the site. I expect it is something to do with them being in the Ely diocese. It is a bit hit and miss- I dare say there is some logic to it but some Norfolk parishes such as Southery also in the Ely diocese are on the site. It is a bit annoying ! http://www.ely.anglican.org/about/structured/deaneries/parishes.html Rosie On 29/10/2011 23:38, Maureen Tokely wrote: > Hi RosemaryI have just been looking at that site for Inez but Wiggenhall St Mary Magdalen doesn't appear to be there online.Am I looking in the correct place? The film of WSMM which include marriages can be ordered from LDS to view at the LDS Library.Maureen in Oz> Date: Sat, 29 Oct 2011 17:17:19 -0500 >> From: rjones5622@gmail.com >> To: norfolk@rootsweb.com >> Subject: Re: [NFK] Sarah Everson and Thomas Neve >> >> You can go to FamilySearch and browse the Norfolk images. 1. [NFK] John TITE or TIGHT, b. abt 1791, Hemblington
    2. Ros Davies
    3. Hello, listers I cannot find the baptismal record for my 4 x great grandfather, John TITE. According to the 1851 Census for Postwick, John TITE gives his birthplace as Hemblington. Birthdate: about 1791. I looked through the FamilySearch.org registers for Hemblington--both the parish registers and the Archdeacon registers--but could not find him. I found who I believe to be his siblings in the Hemblington parish register: Sarah TITE 1783 - "Sarah, daughter of John & Mary TIGHT. 4th March" Elizabeth TITE 1786 - "Elizabeth, daughter of John TIGHT and Mary, his wife, late GOTT, spinster, was born 27th January 1786. Baptized .... 4th February 1786. Received into the...14 1795." Any help finding the elusive John TITE would be greatly appreciated. Ros

    3. Re-reading these posts and following the links reminded me that when, as a child in the early fifties I travelled out of London to stay with my Uncle in Orpington There was a huge gun on a railway truck just outside the mainline station. When it was removed I know not but I never saw it again. That would have been 1953 on my way to stay to watch the Coronation on something called a television. 2. Jan Glasby
    3. Hi all, I've been trying to find the baptism of my 3g grandfather, Francis TAYLOR. He married Mary DEWING on 25 Apr 1782 in East Raynham by licence. Both were "of this parish". He was buried in East Raynham on 19 Nov 1814. His age was recorded as either 68 or 60, making a birth date either 1746 or 1754. He was apprenticed to Charles Pettifer, West Rainham, blacksmith, on 14 Feb 1767 - which makes a birth ca 1754 likely as I believe boys were usually aged 13 at the time of their becoming apprentices. He was not baptised in East Raynham. There was an Overing Taylor buried there on 16 Mar 1774 and Elizabeth Taylor of West Raynham on 13 Oct 1791, aged 75 - possibly related? In looking for baptisms in nearby parishes that might fit, I found a William and Frances Taylor, also a William and Alice Taylor (possibly a second marriage) having children in the 1750s in Weasenham. One that caught my eye was for a Frances TAYLOR in 1754, parents William and Frances. Only problem is she's female! I've checked the entry and it does say "daughter" - could the minister have been wrong?? Other children were named Alice and James. Along with William and Francis, they all appear in the next generations of my Taylors. Am I clutching at straws? Where else can I look? Is 1754 too early for most baptisms to have been recorded? Any feedback greatly appreciated. Regards Jan

    3. Hi Rosie I haven' found a connection between the family headed by John Gager [married Elizabeth Garnet 1762] at Downham Market and Richard at King Lynn. They married and had families around the same time so maybe Brothers. I don't know the origins of the name. I don't know when and where Richard was born or his occupation. But the name Gager does appear in London records which made me wonder if he came from there to King Lynn. Karen

    3. A broad sweep on assorted sites found the name in Norwich and also a cluster in Sudbury in Suffolk and in parts of Essex. The surname profiler has a density in Essex but 1881 is a bit late and may be misleading. Apart from Norwich I wouldnt begin to know if there is an obvious connection between Lynn and the other places. I suppose the registration would be easy to fall in the cracks of gaps in PRs in places adjoining Downham. I see there is an early 1700s birth for a Gager at Outwell, so perhaps the villages out that way are worth a try in the actual images . I can appreciate your frustration. I would like to learn more about the area, where people travel to, from King Lynn and those coming to the area where they most likely arrived from. Richard was living in King Lynn [1764-65 & 1768-1779] which I know was a major sea port. I am interested in hearing about any transport route in the 1760's ship, canals, roads that people may have travel regularly on to /from King Lynn area for employment or family. Karen
