The following information is from the Journal of 11, January 1862. The following are advertisers. 1]. LADIES, Go to the new store of H. SHOENBAR & Co., EDER's old building, Main Street, Wvvlle. (Note: this is the upper level of VAN MATRE's Store building in 1987, and the MAIN STREET GALLERY between Trinity Treasures and Mamma Llama in 2012). 2] HOCKER's SALOON, Head of Main St. The undersigned has taken the above well-known Saloon, where for the accommodation and employment of his friends and the former patrons of the House, He will keep a constant supply of liquors, wines, and cigars, which he invites them to come and sample. LANG. It is believed to be the 1st team over the mtn, that ever made the trip in February. 5] STAGE STOPS CHANGED ~ The stages of the SHASTA and WEAVER line(s), have changed the stopping place, from the UNION HOTEL to the NEW YORK Hotel. Saturday. 1] WARREN VAN MATRE, left Wenesday afternoon, for his home in Hayfork, on a visit to his parents, Mr & Mrs. J. A. VAN MATRE. 2] WASHINGTON's birthday passed quietly in this town, the only observence being the closing of the public offices and the displays of flags. 3] SUFFRAGETTE~ Trinity County boasts a sffragette that is a regular voter. This week Miss JENNIE COUMBS, was the 1st woman voter to register in Trinity County. 4] SPENCER W. LOWDEN, son of W.J. LOWDEN of Shasta CO. has just passed a brillirant examination at the U.S. SURVEYOR's office in San Francisco as a UNITED STATES MINERAL SURVEYOR. The young man was born as LOWDEN Ranch, this County and is one of the many bright boys raised here. We congratulate him on his success. 5] Leap Year Ball was a grand success. Mrs. W.A. GOETZE, in the difficult part of flaoor manager, deserves special attention, her orders being given in true generalistic style. There was not a dull ment during the dance.
