    3. Can some kind soul guide me through the process in obtaining information from the San Francisco Superior Court concerning a 1939 lawsuit. I have the case number, the outcome of the case, and other details, such as the names of all 323 plaintiffs. What I do not have, and need are the names of the 403 defendants, well actually, I have three names. Some courts are user friendly about their archives and some can be darn hostile. Anyhow, I appreciate any assistance as to how to proceed in my quest for this information. Tim Purdy P.S. For those interested the case was a civil action seeking nearly four million in damages of the purge of the C..I.O. families from Westwood, Lassen County from a labor dispute with the Red River Lumber Company. Several historians cite this was the largest forced movement of United States citizens until the Japanese internment camps.

    3. Here is the link to the court's site: http://sfsuperiorcourt.org/index.aspx?page=1 Than go to "Online Services". Usually a case that old won't be online and the procedure is to order the microfilm, which can take anywhere from 1 to 6 weeks, and you will have to look at it at the courthouse. Most courts don't charge for this, but I'm not sure about San Francisco. I just saw Margie's reply and agree with her. If you write to them and you really just need the name of the defendants, that would be the face page(s) called the Court and Cause page(s) and I suspect with that many defendants, that could be slightly lengthy. What is the actual name of the case and the case number? Is this the case: http://law.justia.com/cases/california/calapp2d/47/235.html Denna v. Red River Lumber Co.) Good luck!
