The rain record for the week is 1.12 inches.Rain to season is 23.52. The Weather is unsettled Friday, when we went to press, and we may have more rain. 81 yrs. ago. 21, March 1931. Saturday. 1] Spring is here! Gardners are planting their early seeds, and just think! Where now there is nothing but graveand dirt, there will soon flourish 126 different varieties of WEEDS. 72 yrs. ago. 29, February, 1940. Saturday. 1] headlindes. STORM- Floods maroon TRINITY towns. ( no story follows). 62 yrs. ago. 12, January 1950. Thursday. 1] Snow which fell from Saturday to Wednesday was the most difficult to handle of any in recent years; 19 inches fell by Wednesday morning with moisture content measured at 2.87 inches<rain. Considerably above normal.. 57 yrs. ago. 22, December 1955. Thursday. Recorded Flood: 1] The worst flood in history took place on 21, December 1955<headlines>; bridges and homes lost at Lewiston, Douglas City, Junction City, Big Bar, Hawkins Bar, and WIllow Creek. (Note: a flood of simular volume occured in 1964-65). 42 yrs. ago. 24, December 1970. Thursday. 1]. Warm rains have melted the snow. 10 bridges are out, power lines are still down. The Canyon Creek bridge at Junction City is out. 37 yrs. ago. 27, March 1975. Thursday. 1]. SPRING ~ Rushed into Trinity County, last Friday bringing in heavy snows which stranded tourists, collapsed and overturned a houseboat on Trinity Lake, and generally disrupted everyones hopes for warmer weather. Hopefully, by the time you read this, the Sun will be shining brightly, if it isn't, don't blame the Trinity Journal....we're no longer responsible for weather changes. Note from the Editor: Dear Readers. You are now well versed in the variable weather history for this little part of heaven on earth. You can now go out and lie like the best about ALL the snow and rain that we have had over the years. "AWH, I remember back when the animals crossed "OVER" the River, not through it."
