I lived between Dinsmore and Mad River. I went to Weaverville a few years ago and decided to go across to see relatives who still live at Dinsmore. I used to hate driving through rattlesnake canyon because it was basically one lane and the log trucks ran it. I almost missed the canyon on the last trip because a fancy new road was built above it. > Now if they would get the 101 through Santa Rosa and the two lane around > the really bad area done. I agree that once past Santa Rosa the traffic used to thin way out and it was a smooth drive to Fortuna and the cutoff to home. Sometimes I would take the cutoff at Garberville and go through Alderpoint, Zenia and Hettenshaw to home that way. Living in horrible So CA I truly miss the trees. Armendine Berry
With my family roots in several Northern Cal counties, I am right there with you Armendine. I constantly ask my cousins, What is a tree? Where is the green? I forgot. Living in the Mojave desert where everyone 'loves' the BROWN here, I say, no, I don't like all the variations of brown. I WANT GREEN TREES. They think I am crazy. Take it easy up there Linda - you have had enough to go through this past year without more wibbly wobbling around with earthquakes. LOL Margie, they think I'm crazy too for the very same reason. When it gets too bad I drive down to Palm Springs so I can drive up and down Bob Hope drive and look at the green median and green trees on both sides of the street. Armendine
