BORN - SMITH - In Green Valley, Sept. 25th, to Mr.&Mrs. Wm. Q. SMITH, a son. MARRIED - ROWELL-BACON - In Martinez, Sept. 27th, by Hon. Thomas A. BROWN, County Judge; Mr. David ROWELL and Mrs. Lizzie BACON, all of Martinez. DIED - MEESE - At her late residence in San Ramon Valley, near Danville, on Saturday, Sept. 26th, after a long and painful illness, Panthea L., wife of William MEESE, aged 38 years, 1 month, 15 days. DIED - DOLAN - In Morgan Territory, Contra Costa county, on Wednesday, Sept. 30, Thomas DOLAN, aged about 40 years. FATAL CASUALTY - In the "Morgan Territory" neighborhood, on Friday evening of last week, Mr. Thomas DOLAN received a kick from a suckling colt, and was so much injured internally that he died from the effects of the hurt on Wednesday morning last, as is reported to us, though the nature of the internal injury we have not been able to learn; possibly a rupture of blood vessels causing excessive hemorrhage. LEG BROKEN - Thomas REDFERN, in coming home from Pacheco last Tuesday evening, after dark, was thrown from his wagon and fractured both bones of 1 leg between the knee and ankle. PROBATE COURT - -In the matter of the Guardianship of Sarah CUNNINGHAM and Martha CUNNINGHAM, minor children of Robert CUNNINGHAM, deceased, Thos. N. WILLS is appointed Guardian of the estate of the above named minors, upon his executing and filing bonds to each of said minors in the sum of $4000 and taking the oath of office. A SUICIDE'S REQUEST - B.W. VOGELSDORFF, the San Francisco broker who killed himself at the Oakland Grand Central Hotel on Saturday, last, though he had been unfortunate in late financial operations had the reputation of being a man of strict integrity, and he left the following letter, addressed: September 26, 1874 To the Coroner: I came here from San Francisco for the purpose of *suicide.* Please to acquaint the jury at the inquest with this fact. No plea of insanity or accident to be considered. I desire to be buried here in Oakland; no choice of ground; Potter's field will do as well. The only request I have to make, and trust you will grant it, is I be buried without a coffin or shroud; that my remains be deposited in the grave *naked,* and mother earth be closely packed around and on me.
