    3. sorry about the interuption in posting. (Con'td) 25, March, 1937. Thursday. 3] Origins ~ Trinity High School was instituted in 1909, with 14 students and a single instructor, being F.L.WHARFF. The pressent building, formally a barn, was purchased in 1910. A photo of the 1st School, taken circa 1913,appears on the 5th page of this edition. After 27 years of use as a School, the building needs to be replaced. A plan for that purposed new School appears o page 5 also. 50 years ago. 08, March 1962. Thursday. 1]. Sale~ WILLIAM F. and wife, JANET W. ASBURY, have recently sold the Weekly Trinity Journal, to RALPH H. and DOROTHY J. COSTELLO, of San Francisco, Calif. . Take over date was 03, March 1962. The ASBURY's had published the Journal since 29, August 1960. Mrs. PEGGY SANBORN, has joined the staff and will have charge of the front office. Peggy, wife of CLIFF SANBORN, formerly was secretary to REX RILEY, country official. The SANBORN's have a son, Charles, and 2 daughters, SANDRA and LAURIE, the SANBORN's have lived in Wvvlle for the last 12 yrs. Other Journal Staff members are; BOB and FERN COOK, HOWARD SMITH and HARRY THOMAS, are members of the composing room staff. 2] Weather ~ rain for the week 2.52 inches,rain to date 24.22 inches, temps range from a high of 42 degrees, on low side of 30 degrees. 3] County Animal Bounty~ Cash bounties on 10 Coyotes and 12 Bobcats killed in Trinity County were paid in February.(1962). 15, March 1962. Thursday. 1] Dance~ The annual St. Patrick's Dance will be held on 17, March, at the Civil Defense Hall/Center (CD or Vet's hall)begining at 9 p.m. . The music will be furnished by 'JOHNNY BLAZE and his 4 Shamrock's'. Decorations for the dance are being designed by CLAIRE BARRETT, ANN SHEPPARD and CHARLES PARKAN. The fod is being furnished by RUTH BRANDES, GERI BLANEY, MARIE RYAN, RUTH RYAN, VERNON RYAN, VINCENT RYAN, TAYLOR ALWARD and AGNES MARSHALL. The general chairman is DON KEENEDY. The dance is a family affair, with everyone from 10 to 100 , being invited. 2] Weather ~ Rain for week 0.11 inches,Rain to date is 24.33 inches. Temp high's of 59 degrees, average low was 29 degrees, but a low of 18 degrees was recorded on Tuesday. 3] Prize winner ~ Today's paper on pg.3, shows a photo of BARBARA ALWARD recieving the perpetual trophy, which she won in the recent annual Student Speaker cometition, sponcered by the Wvvlle LIONS club. Also in the photo is BOB OMSTEAD, principal, and Dr. JAMES VON FOSSEN, district superintendent of TCHS District. (NOTE~ BARBARA ALWARD SIMMONS, was employed in the office at THS in 1987. She is now retired and residing in Wvvlle.) 29, March 1962. Thursday. 1] Dance~ a 'Twist' contest was held at the recent St. Patick's Day Dance. The dancers who 'twisted' themselves into 1st place were; ROBERT OMSTEAD, LAWRENCE KENNEDEY, of Redding, DR. JAMES VAN FOSSEN, and ROBERT MARSHALL. 2] Weather ~ Rainfall for this week .72 inches, to date 25.44 inches. Temps ranged from a high of 55 degrees to a low of 33 degrees. 3] Play ~ "See How They Run", the Trinity Players new comedy, will be presented at 8p.m. on APril 6 & 7th, in the Civil Defense Hall. Mr JIM DIPPERY, CEICL PRESTON, TERRY PEART and BARBARA POLKA are portrayed in their various roles on pg. 1. 4] Role Changes~ Mr. JACK LARKIN, recently of the Wvvlle Bank of America, is photed on pg.2, with his brother DON LARKIN. The brothers recently took over the Variety Store, after their parents, Mr. & Mr.s ELMER LARKIN, retired as active members of this business. 5] Food AD ~ From the Trinity Market, Hills Bros. coffee, 1 lb, @ .59 cents; a 2 lb can is $1.17. end. ~hum.Linda~ Words are the window to the Heart.

    3. Linda, Can you tell me again, the 25 March 1937 was originally from what issue? I want to see if I can pull up the pictures of that School. I haven't had much sleep lately so I must be doing something wrong because I am adding 27 to 13 and come up with 1940 and this issue of the paper is only 1937.
